
The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936, when she was 10years old. A very attractive and collectible copy of this American classic in its original dust jacket. A very good plus dust jacket with a black and white photo on the rear panel of a reflective Harper Lee taken by Truman Capote. The patina of time reveals a 1960s vintage dust jacket with light wear and rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine ends and at the corners, a few wrinkles along the edges, and one tiny scuff mark at the center edge of the jacket spine.The front inside flap has a few light vertical creases along the outer edge, not affecting any of the text. With the first issue quotes by Truman Capote in green ink at the top of the front flap and the Jonathan Daniels slug at the middle of the rear inside flap.

In a complete, handsome, first issue dust jacket with the original price of "$3.95" printed at the bottom of the front flap. With light creases to the top corners of pages 9 and 11.
